Michael Shannon has dreams about the apocalypse in the trailer for Take Shelter

Somehow the trailer for TAKE SHELTER got lost in the slow ass shuffle of yesterday’s news. I am here to bring it to your attention.

An actor you need to start following, if you haven’t already, is Michael Shannon. He’s been in several films, but hasn’t really come full focus until recently will roles in REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, THE RUNAWAYS, and HBO’s BOARDWALK EMPIRE. But TAKE SHELTER looks like it might be his best yet.

The trailer for this film is great. It’s tone looms ominously and makes you wonder why Shannon is having these apocalyptic visions. Jessica Chastain (THE TREE OF LIFE) plays the part of Shannon’s wife, who is increasingly upset by her husband’s behavior. Chris Bumbray saw this film at Sundance and ended up giving it a 9/10. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it as well. Also nice to see Kathy Baker in the mix.

Check out the synopsis and trailer below.

“Curtis LaForche (Michael Shannon) lives in a small town in Ohio with his wife, Samantha (Jessica Chastain), and daughter, Hannah, a six-year-old deaf girl. When Curtis begins to have terrifying dreams, he keeps the visions to himself, channeling his anxiety into obsessively building a storm shelter in his backyard. His seemingly inexplicable behavior concerns and confounds those closest to him, but the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within his community can’t compare with Curtis’s privately held fear of what his dreams may truly signify.”
