The Hunchback of Notre Dame: your newest action hero?

Proving that there is still commercial potential to be squeezed from popular stories in the public domain, an update of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME is in the works.

Victor Hugo’s classic story of bell-ringing kyphosis sufferer Quasimodo and his infatuation with gorgeous Gypsy babe Esmerelda will be getting a “high-concept action-adventure” treatment said to be in the vein of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. But in Paris. Possibly.

The Paramount project comes from fresh writers Willie Block & Jake Emanuel and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS), and like previous adaptations will deviate from the original tragic material. Maybe it’ll have lasers!
