The UK and France getting Star Wars: The Force Awakens a little earlier

Someone owes me answers. Strike that. Someone owes all of us answers. We deserve some sort of explanation as to why, when December 18 rolls around and STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is finally here, we may have already run into an issue where overseas audiences have exhibited their capacity for spoiling the movie to the world. A few countries are getting the film a tad earlier than the rest of us, and that never sounds like a sound strategy to me.

Granted, those midnight shows have gradually been moved up to 8 and 10 p.m. shows across the board, so those able to get tickets to those first shows will technically get to see it early, too, but not as soon as those in the UK who have seen their release date moved up to the 17th and French audiences who are getting their fresh dose of the Force on the 16th.

There are going to be people who know all about the First Order and the Resistance and Kylo Ren and BB8 and so on and so forth just as you can taste it. Let the outrage begin, and the social media blackout planning start, since you know it's going to be needed.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS arrives on December 18, unless you're outside the U.S., in which case… Son of a bitch!
