Thom Yorke shares the first dreamy track from the Suspiria soundtrack

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With the original motion picture soundtrack for Luca Guadagnino's set for an October 26 release via XL Records, it's about high time we heard a song from the upcoming album, don't you think? Thankfully, Radiohead frontman and all together musical magician, Thom Yorke, has posted a new song from the LP, titled "Suspirium", via his personal YouTube page. The track begins with Yorke tickling the ivories to dreamy effect, as his whispery, iconic vocals sing of darkness, madness, and the peace that comes with forgiveness. As the song continues on, Yorke introduces light wind instruments, adding to the track's atmosphere with light, windy notes.

Last year, Yorke said that he'd been inspired by Vangelis' BLADE RUNNER soundtrack when scoring the SUSPIRIA reboot.

"Vangelis, it’s his hands that made that," said Yorke. "Which encouraged me. Because that was the thing I was finding most daunting. Normally [scoring] a horror movie involves orchestras, these specific things. But Luca [Guadagnino], the director, and Walter [Fasano], the editor, are very much, like, find your own path with it. … I just have to find a way into it."
