What does this Ant-Man centric image from Edgar Wright tell us?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

With the smashing box office of THE AVENGERS this past weekend it’s frozen in carbonite that there will be an onslaught of Marvel movies to continue to flow out to the masses, one of which is the ever-in-development ANT-MAN film, which has had director Edgar Wright (SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, HOT FUZZ) attached for the longest time.

This morning, via Twitter, Wright tweeted the following pic with the attached cryptic message:

“Received this in the mail. What can it mean?”

Is it a message from Marvel to get his ass to work?  Is it an obsessed fan telling him to do the same?  Is it Simon Pegg jockying for the lead?

Okay, let’s all just calm down for a second here.  We all know that Wright is currently working on the Johnny Depp starrer THE NIGHT STALKER as well as the third part of his Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (a.k.a. The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy), THE WORLD’S END.

So, when does that leave time for ANT-MAN?  And, would it be in time for a second Avengers film?  Oh, so much speculation.  More teases than a blindfolded lap dance.

For those not well-versed in who Ant-Man/Hank Pym is, check out the Marvel wiki here.

Personally, I’m excited to see Wright’s vision of ANT-MAN as I’m a big fan of his work and I think he’s got the chops to deliver a kick ass comic book film (and, yes, I recognize SCOTT PILGRIM as just that) for Marvel.

This probably isn’t the last tease we’ll have before they stop f*cking around and start shooting this damn thing, so don’t get too comfortable.  Still, at least they’re kinda moving forward, even if it’s just with some half-assed placard.

Stay tuned as this puppy continues to develop.
