Whedon Casts Cabin

Joss Whedon has found his victims. Relative unknowns Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz and Jesse Williams will star as “the kids” in Whedon’s horror film THE CABIN IN THE WOODS. The film’s plot is being kept tightly under wraps by Whedon who wrote the film and is also producing, though the screenplay has been described as “genre-tweaking”. Whedon spoke of the ensemble he’s gathered, leading us to believe that these youngins are going to a cabin, and they most likely ain’t coming back.

Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding. Each of the ‘kids’ is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we’ve corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can’t wait to harm them.

And we in turn can’t wait to watch them be harmed. The creator of “Buffy” has had plenty of experience with blood and violence, so expect some especially creative and brutal death scenes. “Lost” writer and producer Drew Goddard will make his directorial debut for Whedon, creating a fanboy dynamic duo of sorts. With Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford already cast, this one’s got “best horror movie ever” written all over it.
