New trailer for Roland Emmerich’s Midway teases a courageous battle of wills

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

This coming Veteran's Day weekend will see the arrival of director Roland Emmerich's MIDWAY, an explosive action-drama based on true events from the Battle of Midway, a key event that marked a turning point during World War II. Known for delivering over-the-top action spectacles like INDEPENDENCE DAY and THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, Emmerich is the type of filmmaker who always digs his heels into whichever project he sets his sights on. With that attention to detail in mind, one can expect MIDWAY to feature just as much heart as it will daring dogfights and the destruction of government-issued property.

Leading the charge for MIDWAY is an all-star cast including  Woody Harrelson, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Patrick Wilson, Ed Skrein, Luke Kleintank, Aaron Eckhart, Keean Johnson, Nick Jonas, Darren Criss and Dennis Quaid. COLONY producer-writer Wes Tooke wrote the screenplay, which paints a target on the brave men and women who lived and served throughout one of the most significant wars in human history.

Here's the official synopsis for MIDWAY:

MIDWAY centers on the Battle of Midway, a clash between the American fleet and the Imperial Japanese Navy which marked a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theater during WWII. The film, based on the real-life events of this heroic feat, tells the story of the leaders and soldiers who used their instincts, fortitude and bravery to overcome the odds.

MIDWAY will barrel roll its way into theaters on November 8th.
