New trailer for Spiral: From The Book Of Saw is here to cut you up!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I want to play a game. The rules of the game are simple. Attached to each of your limbs are bone saws ready to slice through your arms and legs. Above you is a trailer for the new movie SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW. You have to watch the entire trailer while someone plays "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba on kazoo six inches from your ear. If you can make it through the entire one minute and forty seconds of the trailer without punching the person you live. Punch the person and you will lose your limbs. Live or die. Make your choice.

Did you make it? Phew! Thank God. I really did not want to have to clean up that mess.

I remember a time not so long ago when every October marked a new film in the SAW franchise. Beginning in 2004 the demented geniuses at Lionsgate released a SAW movie every year through 2010. From a financial standpoint it made perfect sense. The films were relatively cheap to make ($10 million to $20 million) and always made at least five times their original budget. However, commercial success not withstanding, I sincerely thought that when JIGSAW dropped in 2017 that was the final nail in the coffin for the franchise. I couldn't have been more wrong.

This May audiences will once again enter the torture-porn world of SAW when SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW (man that's clunky) hits theaters. The film is a true sequel and will mark the ninth film in the series. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that horror director Darren Lynn Bousman who directed SAW II, III, an IV will once again be at the helm. The story comes courtesy of Chris Rock who stars in the film as Detective Zeke Banks.  SPIRAL centers around a new serial killer who mimics the traits of notorious murderer Jigsaw.

The trailer itself looks like it's right in the vein of the originals. Everything from Charlie Clouser's creepy and distinct score to the faded yellow visuals is present. The closing moments of the trailer even offer a nod to the original film. Wonder if there's any chance previous cast members show up. At the very least Tobin Bell has to make a cameo appearance right?

So what did you guys think of this trailer? Are you excited for a new SAW film? Do you think the franchise should have stayed dead? What's your take on Chris Rock's involvement? Sound off in the comments below!
