Yes, you read that headline right, this is indeed a thing that exists. Ryan Murphy, of AMERICAN HORROR STORY and GLEE fame,
is producing a ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST prequel called RATCHED, about the titular nurse from the same film. She is going to be played by FEUD’s Sarah Paulson. Even more perplexing is there was actually a bidding war for this idea, with Netflix landing the series with a two-season, 18-episode, straight-to-series order.
Here’s the official synopsis, according to Deadline:
Ratched is an origins story, beginning in 1947, which will follow Ratched’s (Paulson) journey and evolution from nurse to full-fledged monster. The series will track her murderous progression through the mental health care system.
I mean, sure. Sounds about what you’d expect.
