A new trailer for Turning Red has been released and this upcoming coming-of-age film from Pixar gives new meaning to having growing pains.

Turning Red is set in 2002-2003 Toronto and centers around Mei Lee, a confident thirteen-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl who is torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And, as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body were not enough, whenever she gets too excited or stressed, she “poofs” into a giant red panda. Rosalie Chiang voices Mei Lee while Sandra Oh provides the voice of Ming Lee, Mei’s overprotective and strict mother.

Turning Red was written and directed by Domee Shi (in her feature directorial debut) and it’s the first Pixar film to be solely directed by a woman. Even though other Pixar films like Soul and Luca were giving direct-to-digital releases on Disney+ due to the pandemic, Disney says that Turning Red will have an exclusive theatrical release.
