Proof that it’s only a matter of time before Sam Raimi takes over the world, Variety sends news that Sam is tackling TV once again with his newly-formed Ghost House Television company. Sam is joined in the endeavour by former Tribune Entertainment and Universal exec William Hamm. The first project for the new duo will be an adaptation of ‘The Taking’, written by Dean Koontz, the poor man’s Stephen King.
Raimi and Ghost House partner Rob Tapert will exec produce the miniseries, which is now looking for a writer to adapt the novel in time to pitch it to the networks early next year. Larry Block, who brought the idea to Ghost House, will serve as co-exec producer.
As I said before, this isn’t Sam’s first foray to the small screen, as he and Tapert teamed up on “Hercules” and “Xena: Warrior Princess”, as well as “American Gothic” and “M.A.N.T.I.S.” (a fave of mine as a kid). ‘The Taking’ revolves around an apocalyptic rain that promotes an otherworldly invasion, which brings about unlikely heroes in the form of a husband and wife whose traumatic childhood may be key to beating the evil.
