Ratner escapes NY

JoBloJoBlo

Although this article is Brett Ratner-based, I’m not going to waste precious space bashing the guy, a) because it’s tired and lame, and b) because he’s accomplished more than I most-likely ever will, and bangs the kinds of girls that I creep online.

After j receiving an award at the Savannah Film Festival, Ratner was asked about his involvement with the planned ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake, and he said it’s indeed moving forward, just without him. In case you hadn’t heard, Ratner was set to direct the remake which is to star 300 megaman Gerard Butler. This of course angered both Ratner haters and EFNY purists, but now, they can all breathe a collective sigh of relief, because this reviled “hack” won’t be going near the beloved property. Thank God, right?

Another director whose name has been thrown around was Len Wiseman, but really, would he be any better? LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD was a pretty standard action flick, despite its good reviews. Any great director out there shouldn’t be bothering himself with unnecessary remakes anyway. They’d be too busy filming original content. If you’re going to remake a film that isn’t even that old, expect a generic director to be the one who brings in an equally generic idea for a movie to life.
