Scream Interviews: We talk to Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, and more!

As hard as it is to believe, it has been over 25 years since Wes Craven’s Scream hit theaters. One of the most clever and trailblazing horror movies of all time, there was no surprise when it spawned a few sequels – but it’s not likely anyone could have imagined the franchise would still be going after two decades.

In the new film, Melissa Barrera plays Sam Carpenter, a young woman who has to travel to the murder-heavy town of Woodsboro after her younger sister is attacked by Ghostface. Jack Quaid plays her supportive boyfriend Richie, who is less than enthusiastic about the prospect of entering such a troubled place. During the recent junket for the new Scream movie, we spoke to Barrera and Quaid about the relief of being able to talk about the movie’s secrets, not knowing who the killer was when they were shooting, and more!

We also talked to Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, who play siblings Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin, the niece and nephew of Jamie Kennedy’s Randy Meeks (who you surely recall from the first two films). Though Mindy and Chad are twins, they’re far from the same person, with Mindy being the local film geek with Chad the likable jock. Who is more likely to survive in a showdown with Ghostface? We spoke about their roles in the film, Mason’s longtime love for the Scream franchise, the importance of catharsis and more!
