Each of the clips we have gotten for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS so far have been dark and serious. It is nice to get something a little lighter. STAR TREK as a franchise has always done a good job of balancing humor with the subject matter at hand. This new clip gives us a little bit of that along with our first look at Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) in action.

From what we know so far about the film, Peter Weller is playing Admiral Marcus who we have assumed is Carol's father. In this clip, she introduces herself as Carol Wallace which could be a way to avert the appearance of nepotism in Starfleet, or Kirk may have someone to contend with for her affections. What we can tell for certain from this clip is that Spock is not happy about sexy Carol joining the crew.

Check out the clip.

Spock's professional jealousy at the prospect of two science officers is classic. Kirk is obviously thinking about the sexy blonde boarding his, ahem, vessel while Spock sees nothing but logistics. Classic Vulcan.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS has still not revealed too much about what is going on, but as we are a couple of weeks away, each of these brief clips is a nice little treat as we all prepare to see if J.J. Abrams pulls off another win. STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS opens on May 17, 2013.
