A teaser trailer has been released for the thriller series The Devil’s Hour, which will be released through the Amazon Prime streaming service sometime later this year, and you can check it out in the embed above. Scripted by Tom Moran, The Devil’s Hour stars Jessica Raine (An Adventure in Space and Time) and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who). The series consists of six episodes that tell the story of

Lucy (Raine), who is woken every night by terrifying visions at exactly 3.33am: the devil’s hour. Her eight-year-old son is withdrawn and emotionless. Her mother speaks to empty chairs. Her house is haunted by the echoes of a life that isn’t her own. When Lucy’s name is inexplicably connected to a string of brutal murders in the area, the answers that have evaded her all these years will finally come into focus. Capaldi plays a reclusive nomad, driven by a murderous obsession. He becomes the prime target of a police manhunt led by compassionate detective Ravi Dhillon.

The Ravi Dhillon character is played by Nikesh Patel (Indian Summers). Also in the cast are Meera Syal, Alex Ferns, Phil Dunster, Barbara Marten, Thomas Dominique, Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty, John Alastair, Sandra Huggett, and Benjamin Chivers.

Moran executive produced The Devil’s Hour with Hartswood Films bosses Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue. Johnny Allan of Netflix’s The Irregulars directed.

Speaking with Radio Times, Capaldi said his character Gideon is “responsible for a number of very disturbing crimes” and described The Devil’s Hour as “quite spectacularly dark”:

The nature of the piece is quite spectacularly dark and that can be quite enjoyable. Everything starts with the scripts and Tom’s scripts were wonderful and inventive and such a brilliant idea at the core. Kind of an aspect of it is that you should listen to your nightmares, because they may be communicating with you in some way. … Jess plays a character who Gideon has absolutely targeted. He is coming for her, he is coming for her child, he will not be stopped.”

That certainly does sound dark, and The Devil’s Hour looks like it’s going to make for an interesting viewing experience. Will you be watching this show when it reaches Amazon? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
