Over the past year, the pandemic has pushed back the release of countless movies, but that only means that we've got an embarrassment of riches just waiting for us. One of those films is The Green Knight, a fantasy adventure based on classic Arthurian legend written and directed by David Lowery.  A24 has released a handful of images from The Green Knight, which you can check out below.

After that first haunting trailer (which was released over a year ago), I can't wait to see what David Lowery has in store for us with The Green Knight. I can always use another fantasy adventure in my life, particularly one which has been rated R for "violence, some sexuality, and graphic nudity." The Green Knight stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, and Ralph Ineson.

The official synopsis for The Green Knight:

An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur's reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.

The Green Knight will be released on July 30, 2021.
