The trailer for the zombie action/romance Warm Bodies starring Nicholas Holt and Teresa Palmer looks kind of great

While we were all enthralled (or not) with the trailer for Brad Pitt’s WORLD WAR Z yesterday, there was another zombie movie that dropped a trailer.  WARM BODIES, starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich, Rob Corddry, and Dave Franco is a zombie romance/action pic that looks way more ZOMBIELAND than Walking Dead.  It also looks to be one of the most refreshing takes on the zombie genre, proving that it isn’t quite tapped out just yet.

Hoult stars as a zombie who’s living the zombie nightmare; walking around slowly, grunting, and eating people.  However, after running into a beautiful woman (Palmer), Hoult starts to slowly become more human, which starts to spread much like the zombie virus.  All while fighting off a horde of super undead.

Get romantic…with zombies:

When I first saw the stills of this I was pretty dismissive.  However, this trailer has sold me.  Directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50), it looks like WARM BODIES will benefit from a solid up-and-coming filmmaker and quite possibly be a breakout hit.  This could also be your saving grace Valentine’s Day date movie.  If you can sell this to your significant other over that Josh Duhamel frightfest SAFE HAVEN, then you may pull off a win.  Food for thought.

WARM BODIES starts the undead love on February 1, 2013.
