The idea of someone having to make their way across a post-apocalyptic America is one I have found fascinating ever since watching the TV mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand when it first aired back in 1994. So the upcoming Netflix release HOW IT ENDS has my attention, because it's an apocalyptic American road trip movie, with some large scale devastation and special effects mixed in.

Directed by David M. Rosenthal from a screenplay by Brooks McLaren, the film has the following synopsis:

As a mysterious apocalypse causes the spread of misinformation and violence, a man and his estranged father-in-law race across a chaotic and fractured country to save his pregnant wife.

Paul Schiff, Tai Duncan, Kelly McCormick, and Patrick Newall produced the film, which stars Theo James, Forest Whitaker, Kat Graham, Kerry Bishé, Mark O’Brien, Nicole Ari Parker, and Grace Dove.

HOW IT ENDS is set to debut on the Netflix streaming service on July 13th – and a Friday the 13th sounds like a perfect day to watch the end of the world (after you get in a viewing of a Voorhees movie, of course.)
