Trailer for Dave Bautista’s Netflix comedy special is so bad it’s good

Ever since Dave Bautista delivered his breakout performance as Drax the Destroyer for Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY franchise, fans of the wrestler-turned-actor have learned that the man has a knack for comedy. Here's the thing, though. When Bautista delivers hilariously dry lines as Drax, he's working off of a script penned by professional writers. Suffice it to say that with the right screen presence, plenty of people can act their way through a series of finely tuned gags. With that in mind, a question must be asked: Does Dave Bautista have what it takes to headline his own Netflix comedy special? The short answer is no. No, he does not.

Recently while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live with his STUBER co-star Kumail Nanjiani, Dave Bautista announced that he was approached by Netflix to film his own stand-up comedy special. At first, Bautista was unsure about the gig, particularly because he's not a stand-up comedian. But when the streaming giant offered to pay him $10 million for the show, the BLADE RUNNER 2049 actor decided to give it a go. And so, as part of the STUBER duo's interview spot, Jimmy Kimmel's late night program exclusively aired the trailer for Bautista's upcoming comedy special.

You can view the trailer for yourself as part of the clip posted below:

Woof! There's nothing like a comedy act that floats like a lead balloon, eh? Thankfully, the trailer is simply part of an elaborate joke, and serves as a reminder that Bautista is unafraid to poke fun at himself in the interest of providing his fans with a few yucks. I particularly like the part where Bautista rushes off stage to confront a heckler, likely clobbering the rude patron with a DDT or Spine Buster for his efforts.

If I'm being completely honest, I would totally watch this cringe-worthy comedy special. However, I feel as if I'd need plenty of alcohol before making the journey. But hey, it's 5 o' clock somewhere, right?

Meanwhile, be sure to catch Bautista and Nanjiani's comedic hi-jinks when their action comedy, STUBER, pulls up to theaters tomorrow, July 12.
