Trailer for FX true crime series may finally unmask the Zodiac Killer

FX has unveiled a trailer for their first true crime docuseries, THE MOST DANGEROUS ANIMAL OF ALL, which is based on The New York Times best-selling book of the same name. Executive produced by Ross M. Dinerstein (THE INNOCENT MAN) and Academy Award-nominated director Kief Davidson (THE IVORY GAME), the upcoming presentation explores Gary L. Stewart’s search for the father who abandoned him, only to uncover the worst: he believes his father is the Zodiac killer, one of the most infamous serial killers in American history. According to the series' official press release, THE MOST DANGEROUS ANIMAL OF ALL is an honest depiction of true life and true crime unexpectedly merging to upend one man’s understanding of his own identity.

This is pretty wild, right? I mean, is it possible that this upcoming FX series is about to unequivocally prove the identity of the Zodiac Killer, a serial murderer whose status has remained a secret since the 1960s? From where I'm standing, the trailer makes a rather compelling case when presenting Stewart's absent father as one of the most notorious monsters ever known. We'll have to wait for the full broadcast before we can weigh all the evidence, but I'll be damned if this upcoming series doesn't interest the hell out of me.

To give you a bit of background into the Zodiac Killer, the mysterious menace was active in Northern California from at least the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Victims of the Zodiac had been found in Benicia, Vallejo, Napa County, and San Francisco. Among those who've been discovered, it looks as if the Zodiac targeted four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29. That being the case, the Zodiac himself claims to have killed upward of 37 victims in total. The Zodiac Killer earned the name after sending a series of cryptic letters and cards to Bay Area press outlets, as a way of taunting the public as well as law enforcement officials.

If you're dying to know more about the mysterious Zodiac Killer, be sure to binge all four episodes of THE MOST DANGEROUS ANIMAL OF ALL on FX at 8pm PT/ET on March 6 and the next day on FX on Hulu.
