IT FOLLOWS writer/director David Robert Mitchell is shifting gears for his next film, following up that low-key horror story with a "dazzling and delirious fever dream" of a neo-noir comedy thriller titled UNDER THE SILVER LAKE.

Starring Andrew Garfield and Riley Keough, the film tells the story of

Sam (Garfield), a disenchanted 33-year-old who discovers a mysterious woman, Sarah (Keough), frolicking in his apartment’s swimming pool. When she vanishes, Sam embarks on a surreal quest across Los Angeles to decode the secret behind her disappearance, leading him into the murkiest depths of mystery, scandal, and conspiracy in the City of Angels.

Featuring "mysterious dog killers, aspiring actors, glitter-pop groups (one of which appears to be called 'Jesus and the Brides of Dracula'), nightlife personalities, It girls, memorabilia hoarders, masked seductresses, homeless gurus, reclusive songwriters, sex workers, wealthy socialites, topless neighbors, and the shadowy billionaires floating above (and underneath) it all", UNDER THE SILVER LAKE looks to me like it could be a lot of fun, and is not at all the type of movie I would have expected from Mitchell after IT FOLLOWS.

A24 will be giving UNDER THE SILVER LAKE a theatrical release on June 22nd. The trailer can be seen below.
