True Blood’s vamp-hunk Alexander Skarsgard tries to keep Battleship afloat

JoBloJoBlo

Alexander Skarsgard, dreamy and devious vampire sheriff of HBO’s hit “True Blood”, is swapping his fangs for a uniform in Universal’s big-budget BATTLESHIP.

Director Peter Berg is taking the classic pegs-and-guesses board game into “a contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle.” The enemy? Some mysterious water-based aliens.

Taylor Kitsch (“Friday Night Lights”, WOLVERINE) is the hotshot naval captain charged with engaging the unearthly foes. Skarsgard will play his brother, “a straight and narrow naval officer whom Kitsch, a wildly spirited naval officer, idolizes.” (An idolized brother? Talk about painting a bullseye on the guy. If he makes it past the first act, it’ll be a miracle.) The movie doesn’t hit until June 18, 2012.

Skarsgard will also appear in the upcoming remake of STRAW DOGS. If you’re looking for some of his pre-bloodsucker work, check out “Generation Kill” or the all-star (by which I mean Billy Zane, Michael Madsen and Sean Pertwee) WWII action flick THE LAST DROP:
