Was Shakira’s Superbowl outfit stolen from her Zootopia character?

Aside from the commercials and the game itself, the most captivating part of the Superbowl tends to be the half-time show. Over the years the performers have run the gamut, everyone from Chubby Checker, to New Kids On The Block, to Justin Timberlake. Hell Dan Aykroyd, John Goodman, and Jim Belushi performed as the Blues Brothers at Superbowl XXXI in New Orleans. The performers and performances have certainly been diverse and eclectic over the decades.

This past Sunday Jennifer Lopez and Shakira wowed audiences on stage in one of the most dynamic, powerful, and sexiest Superbowl half-time shows in recent memory. Shakira in particular proved that her hips still don't lie, gyrating to her past hits "She Wolf," "Empire," and "Whenever, Wherever." The Columbian pop superstar mesmerized audiences worldwide, including my five year old son who suddenly went from zooming around the livingroom at warp speed, to being glued to the TV like someone watching a donut commercial who hasn't eaten carbs in a year.

During the performance Shakira went through several distinct looks but one of them in particular captured the attention of the viewing public. Several people on social media, CAPTAIN MARVEL actress Brie Larson among them, noticed a striking similarity between Shakira's outfit and a certain animated Disney picture she was in a few years ago:

That's right, it appears as those Shakira is sporting the same red bedazzled outfit she wore in the 2016 film ZOOTOPIA. The film – which made over $1 billion worldwide – featured Shakira as Gazelle, a Thompson's gazelle who is not surprisingly a famous pop star. Now granted the Superbowl outfit isn't exactly like Shakira's character's attire in ZOOPTOPIA, however there's more than a passing resemblance between the two. Was it really a nod to the 2016 Disney feature or just a coincidence? My guess is that it was merely a coincidence. I"m fairly certain Shakira wasn't sporting a ZOOTOPIA outfit in order to draw in the ten and under demographic. I could be completely wrong though and the attire was the real reason my son was so interested. He merely recognized the outfit form ZOOTOPIA. To quote Mike Myers' Dr. Evil from AUSTIN POWERS, "Riiiiiight."

So what do you guys think? Is it the same outfit? Are you fans of ZOOTOPIA? Did you check out the Superbowl half-time show? If so what did you think? Sound off in the comments below!
