Sometimes, a movie can surprise you on nearly every single level. When I stepped into BLINDSPOTTING, I was thrilled to experience such a hilarious, heartfelt and tension fueled flick. Somewhere between classic Kevin Smith and Spike Lee, you can find this fantastic film featuring Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casel – both of whom co-wrote the script. Directed by Carlos López Estrada, BLINDSPOTTING is an electrifying new feature film that manages to be much more than just your typical race relations indie.
We recently sat down with the incredibly talented duo behind the new film. Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casel were nothing like what I would have expected, especially Rafael who portrays such a wild man. In fact, both artists were incredibly kind, humble and charming as hell. They discussed writing the script and the process of coming up with this story. Once again, this is a film worth seeking out. BLINDSPOTTING is a bold and brilliant work. It is hilarious and heartbreaking all at once. In fact, it is one of the best and most important films of the year. Opening this weekend, this one is worth seeking out.
