Here’s an exciting and somewhat unexpected week of releases on DVD–a week of FRIDAY THE 13TH!!! That’s right, along with the crappy 2009 version, we have THE FINAL CHAPTER and JASON LIVES out in their very own DELUXE EDITIONS! THE NEW BEGINNING is also being released, but since I f*cking hate that movie, I’m not mentioning it here. So there. Chi-chi-chi-cha-cha-cha on DVD, yo!
SLAUGHTERING STORES THIS WEEK
Rated: Not Rated
Starring Derek Mears, Jared Padalecki, Arlen Escarpeta, Danielle Panabaker
Directed by Marcus Nispel
Run Time: 97 Min.

Jumping ahead six weeks, the film introduces a carload of clueless teens headed for a weekend at a lakeside cabin, plus a lone motorcyclist (Jared Padalecki) in search of his missing sister (Amanda Righetti). When the “lakeside” happens to refer to Crystal Lake, of course, there can be only one outcome. Cue the hockey mask, and pass the machete. Bay and director Marcus Nispel, who collaborated on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, are surprisingly indifferent to changing up the formula this time, although there’s more care taken in building up a few characters, and for once the comic relief (mostly supplied by Aaron Yoo and Arlen Escarpeta) is pretty funny.
FRIDAY THE 13TH PART IV: THE FINAL CHAPTER (DELUXE EDITION)
Rated:R
Starring Erich Anderson, Judie Aronson, Kirsten Baker, Anthony Barrile
Directed Joseph Zito
Run Time: 91 minutes

Jason survives that nasty axe mishap he got at the end of Part 3 and returns to Crystal Lake to take part in his favorite sport…hunting humans! He also tries to slaughter a “Goonie”! You go, Jas!

Directed by Tom McLoughlin

Jason (Graham) comes back as a zombie and heads back home to Crystal Lake, killing dumb characters on the way. A peeved Jason dusts off the machete and cleans house, Voorhees style.
