The highly anticipated WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE trailer hit the internet last week to universal acclaim. Bloggers, fans, and everyone in between reported thrilling reactions across the board, repeated viewings and even tears. High praise for what essentially boils down to an advertisement, but as far as I’m concerned it was all justified. That trailer helped catapult Spike Jonze’s take on Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book to the top of my must-see list for 2009, and ditto for many of my colleagues. But in an alarming development, the folks at Goldenfiddle have noticed some striking similarities in the WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE trailer and the trailer for WATCHMEN. For Jonze’s sake, let’s hope his film meets a better fate than that of Snyder’s, which JUST crossed the $100 million mark this weekend. Ouch.
