’50s style promo trailer for Late Night Classics Presents Gorilla

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

In general, I dig the throwback flicks we’ve seen popping up over the last few years. Sure, I’d prefer fresh, original content, but it’s fun to go retro from time to time. The problem is that everyone is paying homage to the ’70s and ’80s. Those were great years for the genre, no doubt, but thankfully another worthy decade is getting some love.

Check out the promo trailer and teaser poster for Late Night Classics presents GORILLA. The black-and-white, grainy preview looks like it came straight out the 1950s. The flick is said to be in the tradition of filmmakers such as Roger Corman and the trailer promise various exotic locations and lots of alcohol. What more could you need?

In case you couldn’t tell, the flick is a parody of the 1950’s “monster on the loose” movies. It is written, directed, produced and stars Dave Shaw. Additional cast includes Sara Duplancic, Francis Fisk, Paul Washer, Sherry Thurig, Mike Kelly and Penu Chalykoff.

A young woman finds that all her friends and acquaintances are moving into a new apartment and being attacked and killed by an escaped gorilla. The only one who can help her is a former late-night TV show host, a 60’s Rat Pack era obsessive, who has been sitting in a Tiki bar, drinking himself into a coma after he himself fought a gorilla years ago.

Currently filming in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the film is expected to be released next year. Keep up to date on the production, including how you can become an executive producer for a donation of $20, on its official blog.
