Amanda Plummer joins The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Today Lionsgate announced that Amanda Plummer (PULP FICTION, NEEDFUL THINGS) has been cast in the role of Wiress in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel CATCHING FIRE.

About Wiress: The character’s eccentricity earns her the nickname “Nuts” from fellow tributes, and though she doesn’t communicate traditionally, her observations and contributions prove invaluable in the Quarter Quell.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Plummer joins returning cast members Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland in THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, as well as newcomers Jena Malone and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The Francis Lawrence film opens on NOVEMBER 22, 2013.
