Beware the attic in this new clip from Greg McLean’s The Darkness

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Why do people even have attics anymore? If there's one thing I've learned from watching hundreds of horror films, it's that attics are never a good idea. Whether it's the cerebral scares of THE EXORCIST or the bubblegum thrills of THE BOY, nothing good can come from pulling down that ladder. I can easily come up with a dozen attic scenes off the top of my head. BLACK CHRISTMAS. [REC]. THE CHANGELING. There's even a film as early as 1982 that calls upon this idea with the title DON'T LOOK IN THE ATTIC. Attics are he worst.

This new clip from Greg McLean's THE DARKNESS clearly hasn't seen any horror movies, because what does this bedraggled mother do? Check the f**king attic, that's what. See what happens below!

Written by McLean, Shayne Armstrong, and S.P. Krause, here's the plot of THE DARKNESS:

As a family returns home from vacation at the Grand Canyon, they innocently bring home a supernatural force that preys off their own fears and vulnerabilities, threatening to destroy them from within, while consuming their lives with terrifying consequences.

Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh, and Jennifer Morrison star.

THE DARKNESS will be released in theatres on Friday, May 13th.
