Dead Rising: Watchtower’s zombie outbreak goes international

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER, a cinematic adaptation of Capcom's DEAD RISING zombie survival horror video game series, made its debut on Sony's Crackle streaming service in North America back in March, and now plans are in place to share it internationally.

Starting July 1st, Content Media will be making DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER available to rent or own on all major digital platforms in Europe, Asia, Australasia, South America, and Africa.

Presented by Legendary Digital, the film was directed by Zach Lipovsky (LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS) from a screenplay by producer Tim Carter (MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY), and has the following synopsis:

Dead Rising: Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story’s narrative.

Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Virginia Madsen, Dennis Haysbert, and Rob Riggle star.

A sequel is currently in development and aiming at a spring 2016 premiere on Crackle.

I've never played the DEAD RISING games, but I've been interested in checking out DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER. Although I thought the trailers were fun, I still haven't gotten around to watching the movie. In solidarity with international fans, maybe I'll wait until July 1st to do so.
