FRIDAY THE 13TH – June 16th

When FRIDAY THE 13TH hit theaters a few months back, there was a divide among those who caught it. Some really liked it, and some really hated it. I, for one, hated it. Was it because it fell short of its potential? Yes. Was it cause it wasn’t scary? Yes. Was it cause it lacked T&A? No. Actually, this sucker was full of T&A, and for that… I applaud it. And gore. But let’s face it, it lacked the fun factor and it wasn’t really a remake. And is it just me, or does the Blu-ray cover kind of blow? Seriously… do we really need to see his eye?

    HORSEMEN – July 7th

This flick came and went in theaters like a fart in the wind, which really bummed me out cause I’ve been wanting to catch a Platinum Dunes flick that wasn’t a remake. THE UNBORN was fun enough, but I thought for sure that HORSEMEN would deliver the goods. Plus, who doesn’t like Dennis Quaid? Even when he’s in crap like THE PARENT TRAP, I still dig him. He’s just that cool. Plus, he was in INNERSPACE.

    The Goods:

  • Widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Audio commentary with the director and director of photography
  • Deleted scenes

    CHILDREN OF THE CORN
    – July 28th

It’s funny, I just re-read the original Stephen King short story this flick was based on. In the intro, King pretty much says the movie version was garbage. It’s been so long since I’ve seen Linda Hamilton and those damn smalltown kids running around that I honestly don’t remember if it was good or not, but you know what? The short story was good. And on Blu-ray, regardless of content, I’m sure it’ll look amazing. At least they kept the original cover art!

    The Goods:

  • Widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Commentary with director Fritz Kiersch, producer Terrence Kirby and actors John Franklin & Courtney Gains
  • ”It Was The Eighties!”featurette
  • “Stephen King on a Shoestring” featurette
  • “Welcome to Gatlin: The Sights and Sounds of Children of the Corn” featurette
  • “Harvesting Horror: The Making of Children of the Corn” featurette
  • Original storyboard and title sequence
  • Art, galleries, film facts
  • Original trailer

    KAIDEN – June 30th

Any cover featuring a chick holding some dude’s decapitated head is A-OK in my book. To find out it’s from the director of the original RINGU, and I’m so totally there. I’m not much for period pieces, which is what this appears to be a possible exception… because of that head. That’s not a way to get ahead in life, now is it?

    The Goods:

  • Widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • TBA
