Frank Grillo joins Maria Bello in James Wan’s house of horror

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Last November we shared the news that Maria Bello had been confirmed for the lead role of a police psychologist in James Wan’s upcoming but as yet untitled haunted house thriller (formerly known as HOUSE OF HORROR) and today we have word that Frank Grillo has now been given a set of keys to unlock the mysteries of the house, joining the cast in an unspecified role.

The film centers on the aftermath of a horrific massacre: five college students, brutally murdered inside a decrepit, abandoned home. Fresh on the scene, detective Mark Lewis and the police department’s psychologist, Dr. Elizabeth Klein (Bello), question one of the few survivors who explains they were amateur ghost-hunters, seeking out paranormal phenomenon at the abandoned house, believed to be haunted. But what started out as a harmless activity turned into something truly terrifying, and the suspect claims the responsibility doesn’t lie with any of the inhabitants, but with the house itself.

Grillo is a hot commodity these days, recently appearing in ZERO DARK THIRTY, THE GREY and END OF WATCH, as well as dabbling in some genre fare including MOTHER’S DAY, MY SOUL TO TAKE and the short-lived ABC supernatural crime drama THE GATES.

Dimension Films is producing the film, which is being helmed by Will Cannon from a script by Max La Bella.Wan, who also came up with the story, will produce. Shooting begins this month in Baton Rouge, LA.
