Hugh Dancy nabs one of the key leads in NBC’s “Hannibal” series

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Last month came the news that NBC liked their “Hannibal” script so much they put in a 13-part direct to TV order. Well, it looks like one of the male leads has been found…

Word’s born that English actor Hugh Dancy (above) has nabbed on the key roles on “Hannibal,” set to play FBI agent Will Graham. The character has been played in film versions by William Atherton (MANHUNTER) and Edward Norton (RED DRAGON), respectively.

The project is described as a contemporary thriller series featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon – FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter – who are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship.

Dancy’s been kicking around since the late 90s, though he might be known best for being Claire Danes’ hubby than any actual acting he’s done. He recently did a stint on the cancer comedy “The Big C.” You may have also seen him in BLACK HAWK DOWN, OUR IDIOT BROTHER and/or MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE. I still have the last flick on queue.

No word as to who’ll play Hannibal in the show, but we’ll relay it when we hear of it…

Great Danes!
