Mark Millar offers an update on Joe Carnahan’s Nemesis adaptation

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Now to be completely honest I’m not sure if Joe Carnahan’s NEMESIS is going to have a place here on the pages of AITH but it is one slow-ass news day and this thing looks violent as all-Hell so I’m going to roll with it.

Before I get into today’s update on NEMESIS I’ve just got to mention how the late, great Tony Scott was first tapped to direct this bad larry. Obviously that won’t be the case any more unfortunately. May he rest in peace.

As the Hollywood saying goes – the show must go on, right? So now Joe Carnahan is at the helm for NEMESIS and the comic’s creator Mark Millar recently took to his official message boards to offer a much needed update on the project. Check it:

“Shot straight from a wedding in Manchester last week to the City of Angels and plunged straight into some studio biz on the Nemesis movie. Mighty Joe Carnahan is directing (from a script by he and his brother Matthew), but this much you already know. Fox wanted us to get in the same room for the first time and really hash this out, which was exciting. Joe has a really brilliant take on this and Matt and he are going to take things from here so I’m really happy. Absolutely no casting has been done formally although you can google the MTV interview from last January where he and Sir Liam Neeson are chatting about it.”

Alright, I can dig it. For those of you that don’t know what NEMESIS is about here’s a nifty little rundown from Wikipedia:

Nemesis tells the story of Matt Anderson, whose father had committed suicide after Officer Blake Morrow tried to imprison the father for hunting runaway teenagers with his rich friends. Anderson traveled the world to learn the ways of crime, hoping to fulfill his mother’s dying wish to have Morrow killed.

And that’s all she wrote. What do you guys think? NEMESIS going to be tapped enough to feature here on the pages of AITH? We’ll most definitely be keeping an eye on this one and if we’re digging it we’ll pass along any other updates that come our way.
