Move into your Dream Home with Hong Kong’s first slasher in August

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Do you guys remember when we were pimping the Chinese slasher DREAM HOME earlier this year? The Arrow gave it a good review, we premiered the gory trailer, we interviewed director Ho-Cheung Pang, plus we showed you some gnarly stills and clips. Hard to forget all that, right?

In case you missed it when it was available On Demand back in February, DREAM HOME will be released on DVD on August 9 from IFC Films and MPI Media Group. Cover art and special features are not finalized this early, but we’ll let you know when they’re announced.

The film is billed as Hong Kong’s first slasher, and it sounds like they got it right on the first try. Pang co-wrote the script Kwok Cheung Tsang and Chi-Man Wan. Josie Ho stars. Check out the trailer below.

When she was a child, Cheng Lai-Sheung could see Hong Kong’s famed Victoria Harbour from her apartment. She vows to one day save up enough money for her family to move into ‘No.1 Victoria Bay’ with a magnificent view. In order to achieve her dream, Cheng has to work hard at two full-time jobs. She even goes as far as stealing customer data to sell to other companies. However, no matter how much she toils, she cannot earn enough to keep up with the ever-increasing values of Hong Kong’s real estate. Since property prices keep leaping higher, her dream home now seems forever out of reach…until suddenly, it dawns on her: in order to get what she wants, she must take matters into her own hands…even if it means getting her hands seriously bloody.
