Truth be told I have taken very little interest in writer-director Rian Johnson's upcoming flick KNIVES OUT. First and foremost, the reason is because the man has only directed, you know, non-horror movies, I thought his new film would follow suit. But today I just had to take notice as not only did we just hear the news that scream queen supreme Jamie Lee Curtis has joined the film, but today we have word that HEREDITARY and THE SIXTH SENSE star Toni Collette will be bringing her, you know, KNIVES OUT as well.
And in reading up on today's Toni Collette news, I realized that Johnson's new film will be
a modern-day murder mystery in the classic whodunit style
Other mega-stars that are currently in the cast of Johnson's murder mystery are Daniel Craig (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO), Chris Evans (SNOWPIERCER), Lakeith Stanfield (GET OUT), Michael Shannon (THE SHAPE OF WATER), Don Johnson (DJANGO UNCHAINED), Jamie Lee Curtis (HALLOWEEN), and Ana de Armas (BLADE RUNNER 2049). Johnson (BRICK, LOOPER, STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI) will write and direct, as well as produce with Ram Bergman. Production is set to begin in November.
Details about Collette’s character remain unknown.
I can only hope and pray that somehow this is a closet remake/reboot/reimagining of CLUE starring Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, and Martin Mull. Please God, let this be a secret CLUE flick. Please, oh, please, oh, please. All jokes(?) aside, just hearing a movie will co-star Collette and Curtis is enough to have me buying my ticket tonight.
