Robert Rodriguez teases Sin City 3, discusses From Dusk Till Dawn series

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've known for a while that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller would be bringing us SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR later this year as we've been keeping close tabs on the sequel to the 2005 hit SIN CITY, but in a recent interview with SiriusXM’s “Ron and Fez Show,” Rodriguez announced that he’s just finished work on the long awaited sequel and it looks like another film in the SIN CITY universe isn’t far behind. Rodriguez shared…

“Yeah—the second Sin City– I was just here with Frank Miller last night and we were watching it last night. We finished the cut, effects are being done, it will come out in August.”

“He [Miller] watched Part 2—he watched it last night with me and then at the end he said, he didn’t have any comments, he was very happy with it. And he said, now about part three…. Started telling me how he’s going to do part three. So he’s already there on part three.”

I suppose we'll have to see how well SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR does at the box-office when it is released on August 22 before we hear if the proposed third SIN CITY film will move forward, but it's nice to know that Miller already has some ideas on where to take the third installment.

Rodriguez fans don’t have to wait till August for something new as his TV series based on the movie FROM DUSK TILL DAWN is set to premiere on his own El Rey network starting March 11. Rodriguez shared that fans of the movie will be happy to know that while the opening scenes are practically a shot for shot re-creation of the films iconic beginning, we shouldn't expect to know the story arc as new characters will be coming in and this new series will go far beyond the confines of the film. Says Rodriguez…

The first couple of episodes are going to have some real signposts to the original film.  Yet different things will happen to the same characters, new characters will come in and then it all starts going somewhere else. We had to almost re-tell the story in a different way to build up for the next seasons, and re-lay the foundation for a much bigger tale.  So part of it was taking some of the hallmarks of the original, and then adding a bunch of things to it.

So it certainly sounds as if Rodriguez is looking to continue "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" for several seasons which is all good by me! It's no secret that we're certainly looking forward to this new series and we can't wait to see what kind of surprises Rodriguez and company have in store for us!

Based on the thrill-ride film, the 10-episode supernatural crime saga is centered around bank robber Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Don Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia) after a bank heist leaves several people dead.

"From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series " stars D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Jesse Garcia, Eiza González, Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Don Johnson, Madison Davenport, Lane Garrison, Robert Patrick and Brandon Soo Hoo. The series was created and executive produced by network Founder and Chairman, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

"From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" premieres March 11th at 9pm Eastern on El Rey.
