Saw: Legacy rated R for sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

The eighth installment in the Saw franchise, SAW: LEGACY will be hitting screen this Halloween. As if there was any doubt and if anyone was worried, sleep tight because the new SAW film has just been slapped with an R-rating by the MPAA for:

Sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, and for language.

The new SAW film will pick up over a decade after the death of the Jigsaw during the investigation of a new string of murders that fit his modus operandi. Composer Charlie Clouser has said the new SAW is a "reinvention" of the saga and that

"the Spierig brothers can deliver a fresh take on the material that will establish a new story line and new characters that can carry the saga into the future."

We'll see about that.

SAW: LEGACY is directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, and stars Tobin Bell, Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort (see below), Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

SAW: LEGACY is set to hit this Halloween.
