Social Network actor Josh Pence tapped for key role in The Dark Knight Rises

Casting news continues this Friday, and it seems the latest has to do with Chris Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that THE SOCIAL NETWORK actor Josh Pence (who played a Winklevoss twin opposite Armie Hammer), has been pegged for a small but pivotal role in Nolan’s second Batman sequel. In specific, Pence will be seen in a key flashback sequence, playing a young Ra’s Al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in BATMAN BEGINS).

Now, it’s no surprise that Nolan is keeping the plotline of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES quite sub-rosa, but with Al Ghul’s presence in this entry, don’t rule out the return of Liam Neeson, whose grown up version of the character seemed to meet his demise in BATMAN BEGINS. Also, the inclusion of Talia Al Ghul (rumored to be played by Marion Cotillard, below) seems more feasible with her father (albeit a younger version, set 30 years prior to the present story) in the mix.

As for Pence (shown above), the dude recently finished BATTLESHIP for Peter Berg, and is currently filming THE ALGERIAN for Giovanni Zelko. He’s been most recently seen in a pair of episodes of “Parks and Recreation.”
