Supernatural serial killer flick Solace, starring Anthony Hopkins, lands director

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last September we let you know about an intriguing serial killer movie called SOLACE, with Sir Anthony Hopkins attached to star. Well, word out of Variety tonight has a director pulling the picture out of development hell and making this shite finally come to fruition.

According to the trade, Brazilian director Afonso Poyart (seen right) has been tapped to helm SOLACE for New Line. The flick will mark Poyart’s sophomore feature behind this year’s TWO RABBITS, which US producers are already lining up to remake.

In SOLACE, Hopkins will play John Clancy, a former doctor with psychic abilities who works for the FBI and is drawn into a unique serial killer case that pits him against a formidable foe.

No production start date has been given, but the project sounds cool enough to follow, right? Hopkins never disappoints, so we’ll have to see if this Poyart dude is more than a one hit wonder.
