The Purge: Season 1 hits Blu-ray this January

I didn't get a chance to catch Blumhouse's THE PURGE TV SERIES (pre-order HERE) when it hit the USA Network last year. I meant to but then I got all wrapped up in watching (and then re-watching) Netflix and Mike Flanagan's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. All the same, I plan to catch up on THE PURGE soon as season two has already been announced. And what better way to watch the 10-episode "event series" than on Blu-ray?

Exactly, so make sure to mark your calendars as Universal has just announced that THE PURGE will be wreaking havoc and all-out anarchy on Blu-ray and DVD this January. The release will be decked out with some killer special features including a conversation with cast and crew, Anatomy of a Scene, the table read, and more! Based on the film franchise, the show takes place

During a 12-hour period when all crime — including murder — is legal, a group of seemingly unrelated characters cross paths in a city in an altered America. While the clock winds down, some will fight, some will hide, others will embrace what it means to Purge to its fullest extent—whether for revenge, personal gain, protection, or unadulterated glee. As each character is forced to reckon with their past and plot how to better their futures, they soon discover how far they will go on Purge Night.

The series is created, written, and executive produced by creator James DeMonaco and Jason Blum produced for Blumhouse Television. Thomas Kelly served as showrunner on season one and Anthony Hemingway directed the pilot episode. The first season starred Lili Simmons, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell, Hannah Anderson, Lee Tergesen, Gabriel Chavarria, Jessica Garza, Fiona Dourif, and Billy Baldwin.
