Thing prequel writer talks

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

Bloody Disgusting got into it with horror screenwriter du jour Eric Heisserer on the set of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET; Heisserer being the main screenwriter on the Platinum Dunes reboot. (Though Wesley Strick (CAPE FEAR) at one time had his name on the screenplay, Brad Fuller has said that all of his contributions have been thrown out.) The subject of their conversation? THE THING prequel, which Heisserer is now working on. The writer reveals that the flick – to be helmed by commercial director Matthijs van Heijningen – might be close to actually going into production, perhaps as early as JANUARY 2010.

What else is on the writer’s mind? “We’re finding so much from Carpenter’s movie that you think you’ve seen, but in actually it allows us to come up with certain twists on what we have that will allow people to be on the edge of their seat, and not know who’s going to make it and who’s not.”
