Universal tap Pulitzer-winning scribe for adaptation of The Demonologist

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Back at the beginning of the year we got word that super-producer Robert Zemeckis would be producing an adaptation of the novel THE DEMONOLOGIST. Now while this thing is still without a director, word coming in from NY Magazine’s Vulture says THE DEMONOLOGIST has found it’s scribe!

Not just any scribe either. You see according to the site Universal have gone and hired Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan for the job! Sounds good to me! Peep the rundown for Andrew Pyper’s yet-to-be-released novel:

The Demonologist follows a Columbia University professor who specializes in demonic literature but himself is a profound skeptic of the occult. But when his 12-year-old daughter winds up in the grip of the actual underworld, he must use his expertise in the signs and symbols of Milton’s Paradise Lost as a guide to rescue her.

I can dig it. So we’ve got an established producer and an impressive scribe, now let’s get a director for this thing!

We’ll be on the lookout for more regarding THE DEMONOLOGIST as we approach the book’s release on March 5, 2013. As soon as any other updates roll our way you can bet we’ll be right here to tell you about them.
