Millar talks Wanted 2 Sep. 1, 2008

Mark Millar has been talking about the proposed sequel to this year's blockbuster WANTED. Plans were put into motion to make another movie as soon as the movie broke the $50 million mark, and Millar was of course happy to oblige:

“What I will be doing is providing them with a very small amount of stuff for a story, and that will be used as a basic story that they can build from. It will be a small outline that can possibly be picked apart and not used – but it will be something exclusively for the second film, and no one will ever really see it.... It will be some of the stuff that we didn’t utilize from the first book for the movie – like chapters three and four – there will be some stuff from that, so in the loosest sense it will be based on the book, but only very little,”

I guess if you enjoyed the first movie this will mean something to you but I absolutely hated that thing. I'll be avoiding the sequel like I avoid spoof movies or back alley rape. Fortunately Angelina Jolie was in the first film so this story does have a happy ending after all. I knew I could do better than to go out with 'back alley rape'.

Extra Tidbit: WANTED was shipped in Russia under the title "Most Dangerous".

The movie is so full of cool action you don't really care that some of it is over the top. (It's like switch.) haha

the movie is really nothing like it. they just took the basic character of Wesley and took out all the super-powered elements from the story. i'd love a sequel to the book please Mr. Millar!

I haven't seen the movie yet and I might catch it some day but theres no way it came anywhere as close to the coolness as the comic. If any studio exec had the balls to make it the right way he would be my god but alas they watered it down which is why I haven't seen it yet and why studio execs need to stay out of anything creative and just give good film makers money.

I liked parts, man. But some of the shit was just too ridiculous for me. Maybe I missed something but I just didn't get why these people could do stuff like jump out of skyscrapers, etc. Also didn't buy the fraternity...

This is one of three films I have seen that actually got a standing ovation. I was very suprised. It is a love it or hate film and usually those are my favorites. It doesn't appeal to the masses.

Never read the book but after seeing still from it, I think the movie would have gotten a big jump in its coolness quotient if the lead was wearing his leather outfit from the book.
