SOA’s Charlie Hunnam set to play King Arthur for Guy Ritchie

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Guy Ritchie’s version of KING ARTHUR is starting to heat up with some lead casting news tonight; Charlie Hunnam (PACIFIC RIM, Sons of Anarchy) and Elizabeth Olsen (GODZILLA) may join the potential summer blockbuster. Hunnam is in talks to play Arthur while Olsen is said to be the frontrunner for the female lead. Last month we learned that Idris Elba (making it a RIM reunion) was cast as Bedivere, Arthur’s father’s right-hand man who teaches and mentors Arthur on how to lead an army.

Hunnam proved himself on the small screen with Sons of Anarchy and probably saved himself from a lot of stress (and stalkers) by stepping down from 50 SHADES OF GREY. He also did a solid enough job with Guillermo Del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM that he has seemingly caught the eye of one Mr. Ritchie. Elizabeth Olsen would do well here too I think; you may not have seen the best of her in GODZILLA this past summer but check out MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE for the best performance of her career so far.

Hunnam will say goodbye to Sons of Anarchy this year with its final season premiering September 9, 2014. He also recently wrapped Guillermo Del Toro‘s gothic horror movie CRIMSON PEAK.

Warner Bros. will be releasing the tentatively titled KING ARTHUR in 2D and 3D on July 22, 2016.

The best part of waking up.
