Anna Chlumsky, who was well on her way to at least B-level stardom after starring alongside Macaulay Culkin in the infectiously charming dramedy MY GIRL, has decided to make an honest to goodness comeback. And after landing a few off Broadway plays, she’s now been cast alongside James Gandolfini and David Rasche in the upcoming political satire IN THE LOOP. An apparent unofficial adaptation of the BBC series “The Thick Of It”, the film will parody the internal affairs of British and US government agencies and their international relations. Chlumsky will play a State Department assistant with Gandolfini playing a general and Rasche playing an undersecretary of state.
“Thick” writer Armando Iannucci will direct from his own script. “Thick” actors Peter Capaldi, Chris Addison and Paul Higgins will also star alongside Tom Hollander and Gina McKee. Chlumsky has a couple of indie films in the bag titled EAVESDROP and MY SWEET MISERY.
