Brie Larson's Captain Marvel contract reportedly includes seven movies

After the first trailer for CAPTAIN MARVEL dropped the world fell instantly in love with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, and are eagerly awaiting her solo outing in March. While we have only gotten a taste of the mighty superhero we will be seeing much more of her over the years as a new report from THR revealed that the actress has signed on to appear in a whopping seven movies. That’s a lot of punching of old ladies, for ya.

The news came packaged in a story about how Scarlett Johansson is getting a massive $15 million payday for the Black Widow movie, which was then compared with the other salaries for other MCU actors. Among those salary reveals was for Larson, who is getting a cool $5 million for this first MARVEL adventure, which is a ton for a first outing. Word is the total is so high because part of her contract included signing on for seven appearances as the character, a number that matches the likes of other MCU actors like Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and more.

Other actors like Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) didn’t get that big a payday for their first outings, but Larson is coming hot off an Oscar win and staring in movies like KONG: SKULL ISLAND. Between the salary (which Marvel did respond to by saying they dispute “the accuracy of these numbers, and as a matter of policy, we never publicly disclose salaries or deal terms.") and the big contract, we can assume Marvel Studios has big plans for the character going into Phase Four and beyond.

We know that she is getting her solo outing in March, and will also have a big role in AVENGERS 4 only two months later. From then on it’s all a matter of speculation of where she will appear. We can assume this will include several more solo outings, as well as another AVENGERS movie or two. Should there be any more space-set movies, like GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3 and THE ETERNALS, this does leave room for her to join in on those adventures – much like Hulk in THOR: RAGNAROK.

Clearly, Marvel has a lot riding on this new school of heroes, including Black Panther, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and a likely choice to lead them is Captain Marvel. Aside from her having the proper title, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has talked about having loads more female heroes in the mix, and after having the likes of Captain America and Iron Man leading the show it makes sense they would hand the wheel over to her. We will obviously know more come the release of AVENGERS 4, but what we know for certain is we better get used to seeing the mighty Captain Marvel on screen.

CAPTAIN MARVEL hits theaters March 8, 2019.
