Check out the trailer for Dwayne Johnson's Snitch with Jon Bernthal and Susan Sarandon

Nov. 21, 2012by: Paul Shirey

The first trailer has arrived for Dwayne Johnson's new actioner SNITCH, which co-stars The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, Nadine Velasquez, Barry Pepper, and...Susan Sarandon? What the hell? The Rock stars as a father trying to free his incarcerated son by going undercover as a "snitch" in a cartel. It's got a low-budget vibe with reputable stars, but feels a little beneath Johnson's potential.

Go undercover:

I don't know, man. This looks like a rental to me, but there's no denying Johnson's considerable screen presence. Having Bernthal and Sarandon in it does add some clout, as both of them have delivered some strong performances and are generally good actors. The premise is a little tired, but there's always hope that Johnson could carry the pic, which comes from veteran stunt coordinator Rich Waugh.

SNITCH hits theaters on February 22, 2013.

But, hey, Nadine Velasquez, amiright?
Extra Tidbit: My opinion: Dwayne Johnson would soar if he chose better directors to work with. He needs some high-profile names/talent to take him to the next level.

Despite that shitty trailer, it's easy to spot how good the direction/photography looks in this, and that cast is rad. I'll wait for Netflix but I'm looking forward to this.

Extra tidbit: Speaking of The Rock, though the movie didn't do so well at the box office but I enjoy his performance in "Faster" a lot. That's possibly The Rock's best performance yet.

I'll pass

Looks like a film that wants to be gritty but is going to be anything but because of the PG 13 restrictions. Nothing worse than that imho. Another dud for The Rock... sigh. Not really fulfillinf his promise as the next action hero is he? It could've been so good...

Looks good

I like the premise. Looks pretty good. I like the fact that he's an every-day-Joe construction worker. A father trying to help his son. I'll see it. The Rock hasn't disappointed me yet. (Even like his kiddie movies)

Extra tidbit: I've been saying that exact same thing for a long time now. If The Rock has just one great movie that blows people's minds, he will be unstoppable. People would kill to work with him. The guy is a star, but the right director combo would make him a god.

True, but we've been saying that since 2001 and he has not made a single great film in all that time. Welcome To The Jungle came closest but was still mediocre. He could have been a huge star, but I don't think it's gonna happen anymore.

Ill see it because when it comes to action films he hasnt disappointed yet. I really enjoyed Faster. The PG13 thing in this kinda scares me, but I think he gets to show a different side acting wise in this which will probably be good for his career. From what I remember, this is based on a true story right?

Next up he has Michael Bay's Pain & Gain, so he's moving up in terms of high profile directors.
