Coolest auction ever?

Normally I picture auctions as hoity-toity affairs where people raise numbered ping-pong paddles to bid on works of art or vases to put in their summer house. And while the prices at this latest auction might fit that crowd, there is enough geek memorabilia here to make all the fanboys out there wish they had a couple million bucks to spare. Among the items up for auction on December 11th at Profiles in History Auction House in California are:

– Marlon Brando’s “Jor-El” costume from SUPERMAN

– ALIEN creature production reference album

– Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from STAR WARS

– Original C-3PO droid helmet worn by Anthony Daniels

– “Indiana Jones” fedora hat and bullwhip from INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM

– Full-Sized Animatronic “Joe” from MIGHTY JOE YOUNG

– Screen-Used Animatronic “Gizmo” Puppet from GREMLINS

– Original khaki jumpsuit from GHOSTBUSTERS

– “He-Man” sword from MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

– “Biff Tannen” hoverboard from BACK TO THE FUTURE II

– Heath Ledger’s blood-spattered Joker playing card from THE DARK KNIGHT

– Christian Bale’s “Batman” cowl from BATMAN BEGINS

– Screen-used magic wand from HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCEROR’S STONE

– “Wolverine” black leather battlesuit from X-MEN

– Black “Spider-Man” mask from SPIDER-MAN 3

– First editions of “The Lord of the Rings” with Elvish inscription and all three volumes signed by J.R.R. Tolkien

– Russell Crowe’s sword from GLADIATOR

And those are just SOME of the 500 items up for auction on the 11th. If you’ve got the cash, I highly recommend you head out to Calabasas Hills, CA next month to bid on some of these amazing pieces of movie memorabilia. And if you do manage to score any of this stuff, you’ve gotta snap some shots and send in for our “Show Us Your Shit!” column.
