I kinda dug the Spierig Brothers' first horror cheapie UNDEAD -- it was an uneven zomcom effort, but it definitely made me wonder what they could do with a substantial budget.
The answer would seem to be DAYBREAKERS, and so far I like it. The Aussie siblings' new flick answers a question only touched upon in other vampire movies: What would actually happen if the fanged ones were the top of the food chain, and started to drain their supply dry?
Ethan Hawke is the scientist seeking to save humanity (not as leftovers), Willem Dafoe assists the crossbow-wielding underground, and Sam Neill is the villain bloodsucker. Check the trailer below or in HD at Yahoo.

Extra Tidbit: A deleted scene from the first BLADE showed Deacon Frost's plan for post-La Magra food (vaults of humans stored for leeching the red stuff). The concept was later implemented in the unfortunate BLADE TRINITY.

It looks like it could be cool. The premise feels like a Direct to DVD flick, but it certainly had some more than capable actors and more than decent visuals, so I am kind of excited.

As much as Willem Dafoe gets used in these things (though it's interesting to see him not play a vampire) Sam Neill is really underrated for these kinds of roles. That smile, so earnest and sarcastic at the same time.
